Independence Day and Armed Forces Day was marked in Ankara
A concert program was held at the Presidential Beştepe Nation’s Congress and Culture Center in Ankara on the occasion of “28 May – Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan” and “26 June – Armed Forces Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
Abdulkadir Uraloghlu - the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye attended the event as the Guest of Honor.
In his remarks at the event, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Türkiye, Rashad Mammadov, emphasized that the “28 May – Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan” and the “26 June – Armed Forces Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan” hold a special place in the history of the Azerbaijani people.
Noting that the Azerbaijan–Türkiye brotherhood is far beyond an ordinary friendship, the Ambassador emphasized that the ties between the two countries constitute an unshakable fraternity built upon a shared history, common memory, shared suffering, and common victories. Recalling that the legacy of those who fell shoulder to shoulder in Çanakkale and of the heroes who marched from Anatolia to the Caucasus for the liberation of Baku continues to live on today, Rashad Mammadov stated that the principle of “One Nation, Two States” has been further strengthened not only through profound spiritual bonds, but also through political, economic, and strategic cooperation.
Emphasizing that the strategic alliance between Türkiye and Azerbaijan makes significant contributions to regional stability and cooperation, Rashad Mammadov stated: “A strong Azerbaijan means a strong Türkiye, and a strong Türkiye means a strong Azerbaijan.”
Emphasizing that building a stronger and more influential future for not only Azerbaijan and Türkiye, but also the entire Turkic world, remains a common objective, Rashad Mammadov noted that the two brotherly countries continue to work shoulder to shoulder in the interest of further strengthening the unity of the Turkic world. Recalling the words of President of Azerbaijan H.E. Ilham Aliyev - “The Turkic world is our family” - Rashad Mammadov drew attention to the strategic importance of solidarity across the Turkic world.
Emphasizing that Türkiye’s unwavering support for Azerbaijan during the Second Karabakh War stood as one of the most tangible manifestations of the brotherly ties between the two countries, Ambassador stated that Azerbaijan today confidently advances as a strong state that has fully restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
In his remarks at the event, Minister Abdulkadir Uraloghlu emphasized that the relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan continue to grow stronger day by day on the basis of shared history, common culture, and enduring bonds of brotherhood.
Noting that cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan continues to expand across numerous fields, particularly in transportation, energy, trade, and the defense industry, Minister expressed his confidence that the bilateral trade volume target of 15 billion US dollars, set by the leaders of the two countries, will be achieved. He further emphasized the strategic importance of connectivity projects, particularly the Middle Corridor and TRIPP, in terms of promoting regional prosperity, stability, and economic integration.
Stating that Türkiye and Azerbaijan act in close coordination on international platforms, Uraloghlu noted that the solidarity maintained within multilateral frameworks, particularly the Organization of Turkic States, constitutes one of the strongest guarantees of a shared future. Noting that the ongoing peace and normalization processes in the region will contribute to stability and prosperity across a wider geography, Minister stated that Türkiye and Azerbaijan will continue to serve as leading actors in this process.
